DESCRIPTION:The LCMS Ministry to the Armed Forces encourages congregations to give thanks to God for our nation’s military veterans\, service personnel\, chaplains and families on Armed Forces Day weekend. \nIt’s less important which Sunday you choose; we simply want to give thanks to God in honoring the men and women who faithfully answered the call to serve in our nation’s military. \n\nArmed Forces Sunday — Typically the third weekend in May; Armed Forces Day is on Saturday\, May 20\, 2023\, and can be observed on Sunday\, May 21\, or on the Sunday of your choice.\n\nMemorial Day weekend — Sunday\, May 28\, 2023\n\nIndependence Day weekend — Sunday\, July 2\, 2023\n\nVeterans Day — Nov. 11\, 2023; can be observed on the preceding or following Sunday.\n\nAny Sunday of your choice\n\nTo help congregations plan their commemorations\, the LCMS Ministry to the Armed Forces offers free resources\, including: \n\nIntroduction Letter\n\nSermon Resource\n\nBulletin Inserts: General (Color)\n\nBulletin Inserts: General (Black-and-White)\n\nBulletin Inserts: Responsive Prayer and Ministry-By-Mail\n\n\nFor more information and resources\, visit lcms.org/armedforces.

DESCRIPTION:The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod’s Board of Directors is scheduled to meet on May 17-19\, 2023\, in St. Louis. \nThe Board of Directors is the legal representative of the LCMS\, and it is the custodian of all the property of the Synod — directly or by its delegation of such authority to an agency of the Synod. \nThe BOD exercises supervision over all the property and business affairs of the Synod\, except in those areas where it has delegated such authority to an agency of the Synod or where the voting members of the Synod\, through the adoption of bylaws or by other convention action\, have assigned specific areas of responsibility to separate corporate or trust entities. \nIn such circumstances\, the BOD retains general oversight responsibility as defined in Synod Bylaws.

DESCRIPTION:The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod’s Colloquy Committee for the Pastoral Ministry (CCPM) is scheduled to meet on May 11–12\, 2023 in St. Louis. \nThe four-member committee is chaired by the LCMS first vice-president and includes representative from both LCMS seminaries and a member from the Council of Presidents\, according to Synod bylaws. \nThe CCPM meets approximately five times throughout the year to examine applications\, interview eligible candidates and manage the policies and practices of the colloquy process.
