The program will include presentations on “Pastoral Care in Pluralistic Contexts” by Rev. Dr. Philip Kuehnert (Pastoral Counselor), “Personal and Professional Wellness” by Rev. Lee Joesten (Chaplain and Clinical Pastoral Educator), Bible studies by Rev. Russell Helbig (Federal Prison Chaplain), small group and plenary discussions, worship, good food, and lots of opportunities to connect with those in similar ministries. Up to 12 continuing education hours will be available.
The National RSTM Conference is geared for congregational leaders from all rural and small-town settings, and it will provide training and resources aimed at helping rural and small-town congregations assess community needs and search for opportunities to engage their communities through acts of witness and mercy.
The LCMS Board of Directors serves the church as the legal representative of the Synod and the custodian of all of the property of the Synod.
The Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod's Rural & Small Town Mission program will host an Engaging Your Community event Saturday, Nov. 15 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ortonville, Minn.
The President, vice-presidents, and district presidents of the Synod comprise the 42-member Council of Presidents, which meets four times each year to provide opportunity for mutual counsel regarding the doctrine and administration of the Synod and to edify and support one another in the work that they share, those responsibilities found throughout the Constitution and Bylaws of the Synod.
The Commission on Handbook meets at least four times a year, and it meets more often as necessary to carry out its responsibilities. The commission will next meet Nov. 19-20, 2014 in Garden Grove, Calif. This meeting will include a joint session with the Commission on Constitutional Matters and the Council of Presidents.
The six-member Commission on Constitutional Matters, comprised of two attorneys, three pastors and the Secretary of the Synod, meets at least four times each year. The commission interprets the Constitution, Bylaws, and resolutions of the Synod upon request and ensures that governing documents throughout the Synod are in accord.
