Specialized Pastoral Ministry (SPM) Educational Event/Retreat
October 28, 2014 - October 30, 2014
The program will include presentations on “Pastoral Care in Pluralistic Contexts” by Rev. Dr. Philip Kuehnert (Pastoral Counselor), “Personal and Professional Wellness” by Rev. Lee Joesten (Chaplain and Clinical Pastoral Educator), Bible studies by Rev. Russell Helbig (Federal Prison Chaplain), small group and plenary discussions, worship, good food, and lots of opportunities to connect with those in similar ministries. Up to 12 continuing education hours will be available.
Registration, program, housing and meals are free to those in SPM and those exploring SPM vocationally. In addition, the LCMS SPM Office is offering up to $250 in travel scholarships for those who are in need and apply. Contact the SPM Office at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Rev. Joel Hempel, manager of LCMS Specialized Pastoral Ministry (SPM) discusses an upcoming event for chaplains, pastoral counselors, clinical educators and others involved with and those exploring SPM-related ministry. The theme is “Lutheran Pastoral Care in Pluralistic Contexts” and registration is now open. This event is set for Oct. 28-30 at the Mercy Conference and Retreat Center in St. Louis.
