2017 Institute on Liturgy, Preaching and Church Music

July 25 - July 28

The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod will host the 2017 Institute on Liturgy, Preaching and Church Music on July 25-28 in River Forest, Ill., at Concordia University Chicago.

Building on the theme “The Just Live by Faith: Make it Plain in Sermon, Service, Song,” the institute will feature the following speakers:

  • Rev. William M. Cwirla, senior pastor, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Hacienda Heights, Calif.;
  • Rev. Dr. Daniel Gard, president, Concordia University Chicago, River Forest, Ill.;
  • Kevin Hildebrand, kantor, Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Ind.; and
  • Rev. David Petersen, pastor, Redeemer Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne, Ind.

Participants will be able to choose from workshops, including session topics for pastors, musicians and laity.

The registration deadline is July 10. Before registering, please review the program to make workshop and meal choices.

Institute highlights

The 2017 Institute on Liturgy, Worship and Church Music will also have feature attractions, which include:

  • Rev. Dr. Matthew Harrison, preaching at the Opening Divine Service
  • Una Sancta: The Reforming Church A Concert by the National Lutheran Choir
  • Two new settings of Divine Service Five
  • Bible Study by Rev. Dr. Daniel Gard, president of CUC
  • Hymn Festival — Dear Christians, One and All, Rejoice
  • Conference Exhibitors — A number of music publishers and other vendors will have displays set up during the conference.
